Why New York?

New York City is the most iconic, populated, and influential American city. It has been the gateway to the North American continent and a central hub among the world's major cities. From Wall Street to Broadway to Harlem, the city collects the images of the center for finance, theatre, shopping, fashion, politics, Jazz, and more. New York is one of the most ethnically diverse places in the country. 37% of the population is foreign-born. New York has more Jewish people than Jerusalem, more Irish than Dublin, more Italians than Naples, and more Puerto Ricans than San Juan.

22M people live in the NYC metropolitan area and 8.5M people live in the city but only 4% of the population identify as evangelical Christian. About 250,000 Koreans live in the NY metro and 70,000 in Queens and Nassau County where Fellowship Metro Church will be located. Additionally, around 100,000 international students make the NY metro their foreign home. Since many of them come from countries where Christian missionaries cannot freely proclaim the gospel, it gives churches in the area a great opportunity forGlobal missions as they make disciples of international students from all around the world.
